How do I help?

Even if you don’t know exactly what day or shift you can work, PLEASE fill out the volunteer form ASAP so we know we can count on you sometime during the build. Please click one of the links above to fill out the volunteer form right here online!
We have teams from Island businesses and churches working together to make this awesome playground a reality for our kids. We need you too! We’ll have food to feed you, leaders to guide you, fun for your kids, and plenty of camaraderie for us all.
Volunteer Information
Here’s how it works: Building Week is May 15-19, 2007from approximately 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. On Monday the 14th, representatives from Leathers & Associates will be in River Heights. Approximately 40 volunteers will be needed for May 14th.
On May 15th, more volunteers will begin reporting to duty and should be prepared to do the heavy work of sorting and shifting lumber and poles, and pounding pilings into place. Any volunteers considering construction work must be at least 18 years of age.
Each day, the action and momentum will accelerate until by Friday May 18th, predicted as the busiest day, 1,000 volunteers will be needed.
On each of the five days there will be three work shifts. It is hoped and anticipated that many volunteers will sign up for multiple shifts and serve on several committees, such as volunteer, that will recruit and organize workers; tools, to collect and look after equipment each day; child care, for children of volunteer workers – teenagers too young to do the actual construction work could help out with this; art, that will help the paint sections of the playground; public relations, to keep the public informed about the project’s progress; food, to assist in collecting donations of food from island businesses and to make sure volunteers are fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day; special needs – to give advice and consult with builders on areas for special needs children; children – to advertise and speak to public service groups about the project; materials purchase; landscaping.
After the playground is complete, the community will join in a celebration
